Josh is passionate about supporting mission-driven individuals and teams to make real progress on the things that matter by applying adaptive and developmental practices in their work.

Josh worked for eight years with a health justice non-profit, Last Mile Health. He joined the organization in Liberia and served there for four years, including during the 2014 Ebola Outbreak. As the Country Director and Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for strategy and management as the organization developed from a close-knit community of rural health workers and their allies in a remote village; to a national NGO partnering with the Liberian government during a time of acute crisis; to a global systems-change agent dedicated to changing norms and building institutions across Africa.

From that journey—especially the moments of failure—Josh learned how heartbreakingly hard it is to scale values of love and equity in the face of crisis, systemic injustice, and complexity. He learned that it is possible to achieve profound change at scale, but that leadership work is often overwhelming for individuals and organizations. It demands that they find new ways to make sense of their world, connect to deeply held purpose, and partner with one another across difference.

Josh’s coaching, facilitation, and organizational development practice is intended to help his clients do just that. He partners with clients as they think systemically about the challenges they face and exercise creative leadership to discover new possibilities and latent capabilities. He draws on the tools of organizational management, political and economic development, Adaptive Leadership, and adult learning. He has a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and is pursuing an Associate Certified Coach certification with the International Coaching Federation.
